Middle Technical Writer

about the role
we're looking for a technical writer to own the documentation experience for our developer-facing platform. you'll build and maintain the knowledge base end to end — from information architecture and style standards to the guides, api references, and video scripts that developers actually use. this is a role for someone who enjoys turning complex cloud and api concepts into clear, well-structured content, and who treats documentation as a product with users, metrics, and a roadmap.

what you'll do
content
- write and edit developer guides, api documentation, release notes, and tutorials for both technical and non-technical audiences
- break down cloud architectures, microservices, and rest apis into clear, digestible explanations
- write scripts for how-to videos and partner with the marketing team to produce video tutorials

structure & standards
- create, organize, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base, keeping all documentation current and accurate
- establish and maintain style guides, templates, and documentation best practices for consistency across all content
- design and optimize site structure and navigation to improve findability and user experience
- evaluate, implement, and maintain the documentation toolchain (static site generators, version control, ci/cd)

collaboration & impact
- work with software engineers and product managers to elicit technical detail and validate accuracy
- plan, track, and deliver content milestones using agile workflows and ticketing systems
- use analytics and user feedback to measure documentation impact, identify gaps, and continuously improve quality
- monitor forums, support tickets, and community channels to spot recurring pain points and missing content

what we're looking for
experience
- 3+ years designing, writing, and producing technical content for developers or it professionals
- documenting cloud platforms, apis, developer tools, infrastructure services, or enterprise software
- working closely with engineers, product managers, and technical stakeholders in fast-paced development environments
- managing documentation projects across the full content lifecycle — planning, creation, publishing, and iteration
- using documentation metrics, customer feedback, and support insights to drive content improvements
- supporting developer communities through documentation, knowledge bases, forums, or self-service content

skills
- technical literacy: ability to read and understand basic code (python, java, javascript) and work directly with apis and developer tools
- version control: git/github for docs-as-code and collaborative workflows
- markup: markdown, restructuredtext, or similar lightweight markup languages
- api documentation: openapi/swagger, postman, or equivalent tools
- documentation platforms: document360, confluence, readthedocs, gitbook, or custom documentation sites
- seo & analytics: solid grasp of seo principles and hands-on experience with google analytics, mixpanel, or similar

qualifications
- bachelor's degree in computer science, english, technical communication, or a related field
- exceptional written and verbal communication skills in english, with a portfolio of published technical documentation
